When it first happened to me,
the Gift,
I didn’t see it that way
No, not at all.
When it first happened to me,
I imagined killing all I loved with a knife.
When it first happened to me,
I knew. I knew. I knew.
If I moved my body
I would surely fullfill the prophecy of my mind
And so I froze my soul
And let my thoughts devour themselves
and my innocence.
When it first happened to me,
I became fear
My new life
No hope for relief
and I would not share it
because no one could understand
the bottomless depths of my fall
or my new existence
And I suffered.
